Ben Heck’s Portable Home Entertainment

xbox360p.jpg

Benjamin J Heckdorn (aka Ben Heck) is a very well respected modder and hacker on the Internet. He is best known for taking apart home video games systems and rebuilding them to become portable. Originally he started with vintage Atari’s but over the years he has perfected his talents to now building laptop variations of the current top of the line systems such as the Playstation 3, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. Most of his creations are done as hobbies but he has also been known to build a few special editions for high prices for some customers. What’s also nice is that Ben Heck provides step-by-step tutorials on how he builds his creations so that people can build their own.

Neighborhood: Tie Shirts

shirts.jpg

Here are two new shirts from Neighborhood out of Japan. I love how they sewed in the ties to give them a semi-formal look to a classic striped shirt. This also makes the shirts a little more practical to wear since one doesn’t have to worry about a tie flapping around in day to day activities.

For those of you who are fans of Neighborhood, we also uploaded the new Spring/Summer 2008 “DELTA” catalogue here.

Red One: Scarlet 3k

redcam01.jpg

RED ONE is slowly revolutionizing the prosumer digital camera market. Their latest camera, the Scarlet 3k is a handheld camcorder that can record images at almost three times the resolution of “standard” high-definition cameras. Although the price tag of $3000 is a little steep, when you consider that the camera is fully modular and easily produces professional quality footage in a small size one realizes that there is nothing on the market that will compete with the Scarlet.

Light-Emitting Wallpaper

lightwall01.jpg

This is an amazing wallpaper created by Jonas Samson. The wallpaper uses a technology that can allow different parts of it do be on at a time, it’s also is invisible on the wall when turned off.  I’m not a big fan of the actual art used to demonstrate the technology but I love the concept of the work. One could imagine coming up with useful and innovative designs for it that would both save space in a room and provide a nice ambiance.
